Ashmore is about as close as it gets. Our Arundel workshop is a five minute drive up Currumbin Creek Road and across Southport Nerang Road, which makes this the easiest suburb on the Coast to get work done from. Ashmore customers regularly drop a car in the morning, get a lift home and collect the same afternoon.
Being central rather than coastal changes what the car deals with. Ashmore, Benowa and Molendinar sit far enough back that salt exposure is moderate, but the trade off is sun. Parking here is mostly open driveways and uncovered spaces at Ashmore Plaza and the Benowa shops, so cars sit in full sun most of the day.
The result is the classic inland pattern. Clear coat oxidation on the roof and bonnet, faded dash tops, and cracked or sticky trim on anything past about eight years old.

Ashmore is far enough back from the water that salt is a minor factor, and the cars show it. What they show instead is sun. Open driveways, uncovered bays at Ashmore Plaza and the Benowa shops, and very little tree cover on the newer streets means a lot of vehicles here sit in direct sun for six or eight hours a day, every day.
The result is textbook. Clear coat oxidation that starts on the roof and the top of the bonnet, because those are the panels taking the sun at the steepest angle. Red and black cars go chalky first. Then the interior follows, with dash tops cracking, steering wheels going sticky and rear parcel shelves fading to a different colour from the seats.
The good news is that most of it is correctable if you get to it before the clear coat fails outright. The distinction we make is between paint that is dull and paint that has gone through. Dull is a polishing job. Gone through needs a respray, and we will tell you that rather than sell you a coating that cannot fix it.

Around five minutes. We are on Kendor Street, Arundel, over the Nerang River and off Brisbane Road. It is the shortest trip of any suburb we service, which is why plenty of Ashmore customers wait on site for tint rather than arranging a lift.
For most vehicles tint takes two to four hours. Some customers wait, most drop off. Ceramic coating is a longer booking because paint correction and cure time cannot be rushed, so plan for the car to stay with us.
It stops the cause. Dash cracking is UV breaking down the plasticiser in the material, and our films block over 99 per cent of UV, so the deterioration effectively halts from the day it goes on. It will not reverse damage that has already happened. Interior protection treatments are a separate option for preserving what is left of leather and trim.
Carbon XP at $395 blocks around 60 per cent of heat and is our value option. Ceramic IR at $595 lifts that to 70 per cent plus with much better infrared rejection. Evolve IR Ceramic at $895 blocks 95 per cent plus of infrared, which is the radiant heat you actually feel. All three carry a lifetime warranty, and there is no extra charge for whichever legal shade you choose.

It depends on the condition of the paint, not the age of the car. If the clear coat is sound and the defects are correctable, coating an older car is very worthwhile because you lock in a corrected finish. If the clear coat is already failing or peeling, no coating will save it, and we will say so rather than take the booking.
Plenty of Ashmore customers do exactly that. We are about five minutes away on Kendor Street in Arundel. Usually, yes. Chalking is oxidised clear coat and pigment sitting on the surface, and machine correction removes that dead layer to bring the colour back. What it cannot fix is clear coat that has failed through to the base coat, which looks like patchy peeling rather than an even dullness. We will tell you which one you have before you spend anything.
